The progression of Mobile Phones to Smart Phones

There was a time during the 1970’s when mobile phones were considered to be an exclusive luxury item and was confined within the realm of the super rich, who could easily afford mobile phones that came in at an astronomical price. During the last few years, there has been a major transformation in the electronic industry where there has been an integration of the latest and state of the art technology. This explosion in mobile technology has resulted in the manufacturing of mobile phones on a large scale to cater to the increasing demands of the masses.

The present age is the era of mobile phones which has raged like a wild fire throughout the world.As time elapsed; the mobile phones gave way to the introduction of smart phones in the international market. These smart phones come to the user with a power packed performance that they cannot be considered to be mobile phones, In fact, they are electronic gadgets that operate as a mobile phone to make and receive calls, enable the user to click sharp and clear images and record videos and play them, listen to favorite music and various advanced features with Wi-Fi connectivity and Blue Tooth to transfer files from one mobile phone to another as well as several entertainment features.

Mobile phones generally operate on the Android Operating System that was exclusively designed for use on touch screen mobile gadgets such as smart phones and tablet computers. A Linux based Operating System, Android is a unique operating system that was initially developed for use on mobile and smart phones by Google and was distributed free to hardware manufacturers of mobile phones. Most of the mobile and smart phones are generally known as Android phones. There is a large market for Android based mobile phones throughout the world. Android is one of the most well known and popular platforms for mobile devices which enable the user to make use of a plethora of Google applications as well as allowing the user to play games and access the vast arena of entertainment.

There are several manufacturers of smartphones that are running on the Android Operating System Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) version. This version of the Android has been extremely successful in the global market. However, there has also emerged a massive popularity of the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 version which is an enhanced version of the earlier version in operation across the world.

Although Jelly Bean is one of the improved versions of the Android platform, it has the capacity of providing the user with a far more powerful and smooth performance, a voice assistant akin to Siri and Google Now apart from a large variety of features that evince a keen interest amongst users as compared to the ICS version of the Android.

A Growing Awareness

There has been a substantial increase in the rate of adoption of Android phone manufacturers to migrate to the Android Jelly Bean Operating System which has a greater demand for incorporation on the budget and medium range of smart phones that are being manufactured in the country. There are at least ten leading brands of smart phones being manufactured by some of the internationally reputed manufacturers in the country that can easily be upgraded to the Android Jelly Bean Operating System from the original Android ICS version of the Operating System.

These smart phones are listed as follows: Sony Xperia S, Sony Xperia P, Sony Xperia Go, Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Music, Samsung Galaxy Note, LG Optimus L7, LG Optimus 4X HD, Lava Iris 501 and the Micromax A110 Canvas 2. Further, vendors have already started implementing the upgrade of the Android Jelly Bean Operating System and their present range of smart phones that were originally based the earlier Android ICS version.
